Crypto Bites | Recap 30062025
Hello frens,
The crypto world is buzzing today with a mix of audacious predictions, surging institutional interest, and real-world adoption. Here's a quick recap of the top headlines:
Strategy Continues Bitcoin Accumulation, Saylor Predicts $21 Million BTC
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) is showing no signs of slowing down its Bitcoin buying spree. The company recently added another 4,980 BTC to its reserves between June 23-29, spending approximately $532 million at an average price of $106,801 per bitcoin. This latest acquisition brings their total holdings to a staggering 597,325 BTC, now valued at over $64 billion.
With a cost basis of around $42.4 billion, Strategy is sitting on an estimated $21.6 billion in paper gains, holding over 2.8% of Bitcoin's total 21 million supply. The firm is funding these purchases through sales of its MSTR stock and perpetual preferred stocks.
Adding to the excitement, Executive Chairman Michael Saylor boldly predicted that Bitcoin could reach $21 million in 21 years, reinforcing his conviction with a hint at further purchases and the familiar sentiment, "you’ll wish you’d bought more." This comes as Japanese firm Metaplanet also joined the BTC accumulation trend, adding 1,005 BTC to its holdings. Analysts from Bernstein view Strategy's aggressive accumulation as manageable, citing the firm's low debt levels.
Crypto Investment Products See $2.7 Billion Inflow, 11-Week Streak Continues
Institutional interest in crypto is undeniably strong, with crypto investment products attracting another $2.7 billion in inflows last week. This marks an impressive 11-week streak, pushing year-to-date inflows to $17.8 billion – already matching 2024's mid-year figures. Total assets under management in global crypto funds have now reached $184.4 billion, driven by ongoing geopolitical and monetary policy uncertainties.
Bitcoin funds led the charge, capturing $2.2 billion (83%) of the weekly inflows, while short-Bitcoin products saw minor outflows. The majority of these inflows were directed towards U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, which attracted $2.2 billion last week. Ethereum funds also had a strong showing, adding $429 million for their tenth consecutive week of inflows, with U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs accounting for $283.5 million. The U.S. dominated regional inflows, while Canada, Brazil, and Hong Kong experienced modest outflows.
Hyperliquid Perps Volume Surges Past $1.5 Trillion
Decentralized exchange Hyperliquid has demonstrated immense growth in the past year, with its on-chain perpetual trading volume exceeding $1.57 trillion. The platform saw a significant surge during its November-December 2024 HYPE airdrop and generated $56 million in fees in June, bringing its total revenue to an impressive $310 million since inception.
In May 2025, Hyperliquid traded $248 billion in perpetuals, and June is already seeing strong activity with $208 billion traded so far, outperforming many competitors. The platform's success is attributed to its sub-second finality and ability to handle over 100,000 orders per second, all on a fully on-chain order book for speed and transparency. Hyperliquid also expanded its ecosystem earlier this year with HyperEVM, an Ethereum-compatible network.
Bhutan Partners with Binance Pay for Crypto-Backed Tourism
In a significant step towards national crypto adoption, Bhutan is partnering with Binance Pay to develop a crypto-backed tourism economy. This initiative aims to leverage blockchain technology to boost tourism revenue and facilitate seamless digital payments for international visitors. While specific implementation details are yet to be revealed, this partnership signals a growing trend of cryptocurrency integration into national economic strategies, particularly in Asia.
Ondo Finance: "2025 Will Be the Year of Tokenized Stocks"
Ondo Finance is gaining momentum, with its stock rising 1.5% to $0.7671 in the past 24 hours. The company recently announced the Global Markets Alliance, a consortium including the Solana Foundation, BitGo, and Fireblocks, aimed at standardizing and improving interoperability for tokenized securities. This alliance will support Ondo's upcoming platform, Ondo Global Markets, which will provide international users with access to tokenized U.S. stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds, reducing traditional market frictions. Ondo's CEO boldly predicts that 2025 will be the "year of tokenized stocks," foreseeing accelerated adoption of tokenized assets in the coming months.
Altcoin Strategies and Surging VC Funding
As Bitcoin dominance remains high, experts are urging altcoin traders to shift from a "buy-and-hold" approach to smart trading in 2025. A "Low-IQ Altcoin Strategy" suggests buying strong coins when their Relative Strength Index (RSI) is below 30, adding more after 10% dips, and exiting at 30-50% profit targets. While mixed signals hint at a prolonged altcoin winter, June has historically marked key turning points for recovery.
Meanwhile, venture capitalists are doubling down on crypto, with funding to digital asset startups projected to reach $20-$25 billion this year. This bullishness comes as the industry gains increasing acceptance from Wall Street, signaling a new era for crypto where it's becoming a legitimate and integrated part of the broader financial landscape. PitchBook estimates the industry will raise $18 billion in 2025, a significant jump from the $9.6 billion raised in 2024.
